Ingredients

  • 850 grams oranges or 6 to 7 medium-sized oranges peeled and segmented
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional adds tartness
  • Sugar honey or jaggery to taste optional for added sweetness

Method

  1. Peel the oranges and segment them, placing the pieces in a blender.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the blender, if using. This step is optional.
  3. Blend the mixture on low to medium speed until the oranges are crushed into a pulpy texture. Avoid over-blending to prevent crushing the seeds, which can make the juice bitter.
  4. Set a juice strainer over a bowl or pan, then pour the orange mixture into it.
  5. Use a spoon to press the mixture through the strainer, moving the spoon around to ensure all the juice is extracted, leaving only the stringy pulp behind.
  6. If desired, sweeten the juice by adding sugar, honey, or jaggery to taste.
  7. Pour the freshly made juice into glasses and serve immediately.
